OvanezArt is a family owned studio, with its online presence starting in August 2014. We enjoy creating beautiful and unique art crafts and it is amazing to see how far our creations travel, across the globe. We love connecting with everyone who appreciates what we do and we'll keep doing it for a long time, as long as it makes us and others happy.
Our hopes are to develop a foundation, supported with part of the money raised through our creations, which will organize educational camps for institutionalized children. We believe that we can use art and creativity as great ways of therapy for emotional and cognitive development1.
Ovanez Papazian (born February 28, 1960) is an Armenian artist, living in Romania. He graduated with Honors the University of Arts "Nicolae Grigorescu", in Bucharest, Romania, in 1990. He has started following his passion since he was very young and continued painting ever since. Ovanez has been a professional artist for more than 35 years and an active member of the Artists' Academy in Romania. His creations are part of numerous private collections across the globe, mainly among the worldwide Armenian community, which he proudly represents. Ovanez has been teaching art in Bucharest for many years, inspiring young artists to develop their skills and creativity.
Early inspiration was his father - Garo Papazian, a reputable Armenian illustrator and cartoonist, deported during the Armenian Genocide. Ovanez grew up in an artistic environment and his talent and artistic curiosity were a clear sign of what he was about to become years later.
His art is unique, and reflects a genuine interest for idyllic landscapes, complex graphics, symbols, abstract portraits, pastels, romantic settings and vivid imaginary characters. Moreover, as a set decorator and costume designer for theatrical plays and movies, Ovanez has a striving interest for period costumes, which he sometimes uses as elements into his art.
Especially for his pastel collection, Ovanez works with a refreshing and seemingly nostalgic palette. Using a different technique, the details of the contrasting pen and ink graphics, capture the profoundness of poignant, evocative emotions. Overall, the artworks usually reflect certain personal memories and feelings. Each composition takes shape based on a very personal inspiration, transposing vibes and tremor to the surrounding elements' inherent beauty.
Ovanez is an active advocate of the Armenian cultural community in Romania. He continues his mission working on his dream, creating a smoother path towards an imaginary Universe, away from the rugged reality.
"I wish I had the influence to change everything around us for the better. People must not suffer from monstrosities like massacres, racism, persecution, genocides, torture, slavery, discrimination. I am trying to create a getaway and I hope many people will be able to join this journey of hope."
"I do not know if I should be credited for it in any way, but both my wife and my son have great artistic talent. I have met my wife during our art studies and since the moment we first met, we created a special bond between us - art being part of it. It means a lot to be able to have this studio together with my family. And empowering in so many ways. I can not think of a better legacy, than these moments we share together, creating and enjoying our time. I am very happy and grateful for it."
“I do not feel I should be translating my creations into words, I think it would dissolve them in a way. The art I make purely speaks the language I know best. This is how I connect with the ones who understand this undiluted language." - Ovanez Papazian

This was a scientific study that compared the development of children raised in institutions with children raised in birth families and foster care. The study took random groups of 208 children and followed their physical growth, cognitive, emotional and behavioral development over a number of years. The study found:
- For every 2.6 months spent in a Romanian institution a child falls behind one month of normal growth
- Institutionalized children had significantly lower IQs and levels of brain activity than the other children, especially those who were institutionalized at a young age
- Children in institutions were far more likely to have social and behavioral abnormalities, including aggressive behavior problems, attention problems and hyperactivity and a syndrome that mimics autism.
